300: Rise of an Empire First Trailer Released

The first trailer of 300: Rise of an Empire was released last week. The new film is the sequel to the 2007 mega hit 300 starring Gerard Butler. The sequel sees the entry of new actors like Sullivan Stapleton and Eva Green. Few characters from the original also return for the sequel.Lena Headey reprises the role of Queen Gorgo while Rodrigo Santoro will be playing Xerxes, the God king of Persia again. Zack Snyder serves as producer in the film which has been directed by Noam Murro.

300: Rise of an Empire, in a way, serves as a prequel as well as sequel. The movie reveals how Xerxes became a God king before his battle with the Spartan army. But the central plot of the film is the battle of Persia with the other Greek states, most powerful being Athens which has got a strong naval fleet. The trailer begins with Xerxes bringing his weapon down on the lifeless body of Leonidas after his victory, as if making sure that the latter is dead. The next we see is a fleet  in the rough waters. Queen Gorgo, in the next scene, talks about vengeance to a group of men. It is then shown that Xerxes has now decided to expand his empire further and now his army faces its biggest hurdle - the navy of Athens led by Themistocles.

The scale of the sequel is much larger and the trailer shows some stunning action scenes in the sea waters. There are plenty of slow motion actions shots that had made the original a classic among the young men. The visuals are brilliant and worthy follow up to the work done in 300.

300: Rise of an Empire will be released on March 7th, 2014 in USA.
